Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
KAKERU 書ける (“the app”) is operated by Ibrahim Shehadeh (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what information the app handles and why. The app is currently in public testing, so details may change as it develops.
1. Information I collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address and basic profile details with the authentication service. The app shows your email address in Settings. It does not use your name or photo.
- Study data. Your settings, your progress on each card (for example due dates and memory-model values), the premade decks you added, any custom decks and cards you create, and a log of learning and review events (time, deck, card and the answer you chose). This data powers syncing and the Stats screen.
- Feedback. If you use “Send feedback”, I receive your message, any screenshot you attach, and technical context such as the screen you were on, the deck or card, your browser type and screen size.
- Technical data. Hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and operation.
2. What I don’t do
The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. I do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
3. How I use information
To sign you in, store and sync your study data, show your statistics, investigate problems and improve the app, respond to feedback, and keep the service secure.
4. Service providers
- Google handles sign-in (Google OAuth).
- Supabase provides authentication, the database and file storage for feedback screenshots. Access rules ensure signed-in users can read only their own study data.
- Netlify hosts the website.
When you add a custom card, your browser may request stroke data from GitHub (KanjiVG files) and, if you paste a Jisho link, from Jisho.org or a proxy you configure. Those services can see your IP address and the character or word requested.
5. Data stored on your device
The app stores your sign-in session and a copy of your study data in your browser’s local storage so it works offline. Signing out removes that copy from the device. It does not use advertising cookies.
6. Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. To have your account and data deleted, or to get a copy of it, contact me via . Deleting an account removes its study data, event log and feedback records.
7. Security
Data travels over HTTPS and is protected by access rules in the database. No online service is perfectly secure, so please keep your Google account secure as well.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. International storage
My service providers may store and process data in countries other than your own.
10. Changes and contact
If I make material changes I will update this page and the date above. Questions or requests: .
